The story behind the design

The season is short. The reef does not waste it.

Tubbataha is not an all-year dive destination. For a limited window from March to June, liveaboards cross the Sulu Sea towards its remote atolls. The waiting is rewarded with clear water, extraordinary coral, reef sharks and the possibility of hammerheads appearing from the blue.

The trip behind this design was made aboard the Atlantis Infiniti liveaboard, a purpose-built dive yacht carrying the group between Tubbataha's North and South Atolls and Jessie Beazley Reef.

Then came Triggerfish City. The name sounded like the usual dive-site exaggeration. Perhaps there would be a few triggerfish. There were not a few. The water was filled with triggerfish above, ahead and everywhere else. City confirmed.

A free-flow beer arrangement had been negotiated with the boat before arrival, giving the week a remarkably efficient rhythm: eat, dive, drink, sleep, repeat.

The artwork keeps those memories together through the whale shark, diver, reef, cold bottle and one pineapple that has clearly packed its own mask. Tubbataha rewards patience, preparation and anyone willing to travel a long way for a short season.
