The story behind the design
You have seen the photographs. The water is still brighter.
The Maldives may be one of diving's most familiar images: mantas, dolphins and whale sharks moving through impossible blue. Then you arrive and discover that the photographs left something out. Everything feels more colourful.
Across its atolls, thilas and current-swept channels bring manta cleaning stations, reef sharks, whale sharks and great schools of fish into view. Nothing is guaranteed. That is why everyone keeps watching the blue.
The design places a whale shark among vivid coral and decorative forms inspired by Maldivian symmetry, lacquerwork and handcraft. It is not a map of one atoll. It is the feeling of the Maldives turned up a few shades.
For those who have dived here, it carries the colour home. For those still planning the journey, Instagram has probably already started making the case.
The photographs are convincing. The water is better.
